Candidate Tutorial - Prepare, Create, then Upload ResuméTalks.org offers the ability, through a simple application, to capture video and/or audio files. We have provided a guideline below for your use during this quick process. If you already have a video or audio file you are comfortable with, feel free to upload it. ResuméTalks.org suggests creating a video file to maximize your benefits from the website. Having video files on your profile for employers and recruiters to review enhances your hiring opportunities tremendously. If you do not have means of recording a video at this time, audio files are accepted and can be used, but should not take the place of the video files.

With a team that has chaired over 5,000+ meetings, many with conference-call participants, and having hired over a 100+ employees, who required numerous phone interviews, we feel that with conviction that one’s video/audio presentation is vital to their professional persona.

• For most people, a great video file comes after spending significant time practicing a well-written script.
• A well-written script comes with some work and creativity. Have fun and do not forget to highlight areas on your resumé that you are proud of.
• The benefit of ResuméTalks.org is that you will begin to differentiate yourself to employers as soon as you portray your employable strengths and skills in a video file.

If you choose to provide an audio file first, we recommend practicing your presentation in front of a camera:

• Remember, for best video presentations, do not read your material. Look into the camera and recite your practiced material.
• To complete your video it could take time and several iterations. Here are some key points to consider when recording your video:

o Be sure to minimize any light coming from behind you.
o Tidy up anything that will be recorded. Your desk, the area behind you, your hair, your clothes, etc...
o Account for potential background noise and distractions during recording (phones, faxes, incoming emails, pets, family members, etc.)
o Take note of what you wear. You want employers listening to you speak and looking at your face.
o Frame yourself so that you are centered in the camera. Do not slouch. Set your legs at a slight angle to the camera. This will turn your head setting you in a more natural pose as you speak.
o Take a few deep breaths before you begin. Gather your thoughts. Be prepared to speak for up to two minutes. Avoid looking away from the camera.
o The process usually requires several attempts. Be patient with yourself. Keep trying, but if you need to take a break and come back later, that is okay. Remember, you have already got your audio file and completed profile working for you. Have fun!
