1. Do I have to submit an audio or video file to participate on the site?
A: No, but it is highly recommended that you get a video/audio file created to help sell your employable strengths and skills.
2. Can I participate if I do not have a microphone or web camera?
A: Yes, if you have a digital video camera you can video tape yourself and upload the file to your profile. Or, if you have an audio recorder you can record your voice and upload it to your profile.
3. What if I already have a video file created but its more than two minutes long?
A: Our automated system will reject any file greater than 2 minutes.
4. How do I sign up for one of your Podcasts?
A: You can sign up through the Contact Us page and tell us that you would like to do a Podcast and we will contact you.
5. Can I participate in a Podcast if I’m not in Michigan?
A: Not at this time, but we’re working through a few technical challenges to make that happen. Letting us know that you’re interested, will help us make it happen sooner.
6. How do I advise recruiters or other hiring agents to access my profile on Resumetalks.org?
A: On your profile page there will be a link to that will allow you to copy the link to your ResumeTalks profile page, you can then pasted that link into an email, your own website, LinkedIn account, Facebook, etc.
7. Will I ever have to pay to participate?
A: Our intent is to not have to charge either job-seekers or hiring agents. Our ability to support the site in this manner depends on many variables including the number of charitable donations we receive in support of our cause.
8. How will I know if any recruiters have reviewed my profile?
A: Metrics will be provided on your profile page indicating how many times your profile was viewed by a recruiter/employer. (this may be a feature for a future version of ResumeTalks.org)
9. How can you sustain such an outstanding service without charging job-seekers or hiring agents?
A: As a subsidiary of Revitalizing Michigan, ResumeTalks.org receives charitable donations from supporting activities that support this online initiative to streamline communications between job-seekers and hiring agents in pursuit of our missions to restore economic vitality, rejuvenate manufacturing, and revitalize commerce. We also receive donations from satisfied employees who have found a job through our service, and from the employers and recruiting agents who have placed them.
10. As a recruiter, why am I not able to post jobs on your site?
A: At this time, that is not a part of our service. In our think-tank discussions, we are working on an improved way for recruiters to broadcast their job openings.
11. Once created, can I upload my file onto YouTube or my website?
A: No, you will be able to add the profile link which will take them to your profile on ResumeTalks.org.
12. Can I upload Video / Audio from my handheld device (IPhone, Blackberry, PDA)?
Yes. Given that your handheld device has internet connectivity, a video camera/audio recording device.
